BMW 2002tii brake and differential service

Introduced in 1968, the BMW 2002’s name is explained by its 2000cc engine and 2 doors hence 2000 + 2. Believe it or not, the BMW 2002 was created by chance, when two senior BMW executives each had a new M10B20 engine (2.0L engine) installed in place of the 1.6L engine in their BMW 1602s – which proved to be a very enjoyable experience – the two gentlemen proposed to make it a production vehicle which had a total production run of almost 400,000 units.

The 2002 Turbo and tii variants are the most collectable 2002s to date – where the tii stands for ‘touring international’ and ‘injection’ – producing a total of 130hp at 5,800rpm with a kerb weight of 1,026kg.

The BMW 2002tii graced our workshop at VVM with its presence, seeking a meticulous restoration of its braking prowess. With utmost care and precision, we replaced its front disc and rear drum brakes, ensuring a return to factory standards.

Additionally, we performed a thorough differential service, ensuring that every mechanical component was tended to with reverence befitting this automotive legend.
